Besides her current work with CSSA, Berna has also been active in the field of freedom of expression for many years. She was elected as a member for the IFEX Council in 2017 and served one year. Prior to focusing on freedom of expression, she was a member of the Socialist Feminist Collective and contributed to the feminist movement in Turkey.
