An Objective For 2021: Establishing Women’s Universities
The Annual Presidential Program for 2021 was published in the official gazette on October 27th. The annual program is prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Strategy and Budgeting. The program includes analyses on the fields of economy, law and education and objectives planned on the basis of these analyses. The Annual Program also includes analyses and objectives regarding Higher Education Council (YÖK) and universities in Turkey.
In the education section under the headline “Qualified People, Strong Society”, the program envisions the strengthening of higher education and increasing diversity in higher education. One of the objectives is “establishing universities for women.” It describes how these universities (where only female students will be accepted) would be opened, following the Japanese education model.
In the report, activities to be carried out within the scope of womens’ universities are grouped under three headlines:
1. Studying the women’s universities in Japan and preparing a report on the issue.
2. Evaluating female students’ participation in university education, identifying problems and producing solutions.
3. Establishing academic units in womens’ universities.
