2 Students Were Detained in House Raids

Two university students were detained in house raids yesterday evening for distributing a letter written from prison by arrested student Şilan Delipalta. Şilan Delipalta was arrested for participating in the Boğaziçi protests in Kadıköy.

They were detained in house raids

The university students, Cihan and Doğukan, were taken into custody at 21:00 yesterday after a police raid at their homes, although no investigation documents were submitted prior.

Cihan and Doğukan, who are members of the Student Collectives, are accused of copying the letter written by arrested student Şilan Delipalta, who is also a member of the Student Collectives, and posting it on the doors of apartment buildings in Kadıköy.

Their efforts are to silence the university, women and the nation, but it’s useless!

The following excerpt is from Şilan Delipalta’s letter: “I know that I am currently under arrest on the direct instruction of a turban wearing palace and his homophobic associate, the Ministry of Interior. Their efforts are to silence the university, women and the nation, but it’s useless! We once said ‘We won’t look down’.  Greetings everyone.”

This letter was copied in large numbers, put in envelopes and left at the entrance doors of the apartments in Kadıköy. The students are detained because they attempted  to make the voices of the arrested students heard and raise awareness against their unjust arrest.

Student Collectives shared the letter on social media and wrote “ We all handed out this letter and made Şilan’s voice heard everywhere. Did you distribute it too?”
