Hazel Başköy had signed the petition titled “We will not be a party to this crime!” as a PhD student at Anadolu University. Başköy, just like many other academics, was put on trial for signing the petition. She was later acquitted in “The Academics for Peace” case. In spite of this verdict, Anadolu University administration did not complete its disciplinary investigation against Hazel even after the passing of the limitation of statute and prevented Hazel’s right to education for over a year by not returning her student rights. Hazel was also barred from entering the university during this investigation.

As a result of Hazel’s struggle, her investigation is now completed. The administration decided that there was no need for punishment and that all her student rights are restored.
